Qualcomm chip manufacturer launches year-end gaming phones?

KOMPAS.com – At the annual “Snapdragon Tech Summit” which is planned to be held in December 2020, Qualcomm plans to introduce a new chipset, Snapdragon 875.

At the same event, the chip manufacturer from the US is said to also be showing off mobile gaming homemade. Reportedly, Qualcomm has partnered with Asus cellphone vendor to design this gaming phone.

Asus itself has been known as a manufacturer of gaming-specific gadgets under the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, including the ROG Phone series.

Qualcomm’s decision to partner with Asus was considered right, especially because Asus has experience in designing gaming phones, one of which is the ROG Phone 3 which last month officially arrived in Indonesia.

With its experience, Asus is trusted to take care of the design process for the hardware sector, while Qualcomm is in charge of designing the “industrial design” and selecting the mobile chipset.

It is not certain what form and specifications this gaming phone looks like, but Qualcomm is expected to embed the latest chipset, Snapdragon 875 on its first gaming cellphone.

When viewed from the recent trend of gaming phones, Qualcomm gaming phones are predicted to carry a screen with a high refresh rate, an air trigger feature to add a special button, a multilayer cooling system, and a large capacity battery.

Regarding the launch date, some rumors say that the new Qualcomm gaming phone will be released in the first quarter of 2021.

This rumor makes sense, considering that Qualcomm generally launches its newest chipsets at the end of the fourth quarter or the beginning of the first quarter every year.

Collected KompasTekno from Android Authority, Thursday (8/10/2020), Qualcomm and Asus are rumored to be producing around 1 million units of gaming phones each year.

Some of these mobile units will use the Qualcomm brand, while the other 500,000 units will be under the Asus ROG Phone brand.
