Russia supports the draft joint statement with Iran and Turkey, which reflects the approaches of the three states regarding further steps in the Syrian direction. This was stated by Russian leader Vladimir Putin during a video summit.
“Dear colleagues, a draft joint statement has been prepared for our meeting, which reflects the agreed approaches of the three countries regarding further steps in the Syrian direction,” the head of state said.
According to him, the task is set to interact with a view to the final elimination of terrorist groups and advancing the political process.
“The Russian side supports this document, which demonstrates the determination of Russia, Iran and Turkey as guarantors of the Astana process to conduct consistent joint work for the establishment of truly lasting peace and stability in Syria,” he added.
In addition, the president noted that sanctions against Syria are illegal and aimed at its “economic strangulation.”
In a later joint statement, the parties condemned the illegal seizure of deposits in Syria, called on the international community to increase humanitarian assistance, and also noted the destabilizing effect of Israeli attacks, reports TASS.
