Putin Oversees Large-scale ‘Západ-2025‘ Military⁣ Drills Involving Over 100,000⁢ Troops

Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir​ Putin observed ‍large-scale military exercises, designated ‘Západ-2025,’ this week, involving more ⁤than 100,000 military personnel, 10,000 pieces of equipment, and hundreds of aircraft and naval vessels. The drills, running from September 12 to 16, are ⁢being conducted across 41 terrestrial and naval training grounds ⁢in Russia and‍ Belarus, including areas within the Baltic and Barents seas.

The exercises ⁣are framed by Moscow as “defensive” in nature,focused on rehearsing⁤ the protection of the State of the‌ Union against ​potential aggression. Putin​ stated the operational plans are informed by experience gained⁣ from the use of armed forces in modern conflicts. The ⁤scale of ‘Západ-2025’ and the ‍participation of multiple nations underscores ‍Russia’s continued emphasis on military readiness and strategic partnerships, occurring amidst heightened geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe and beyond.

The drills incorporate a significant ‌arsenal, ‌including 333 aircraft – encompassing transport, tactical, and strategic capabilities – and 247 surface ships, submarines, and logistical support vessels. Putin also inspected‌ an exhibition showcasing over 400 weapons ‍systems, ​including counter-drone technology, radar systems,⁣ precision-guided munitions, ​and aerial surveillance equipment.

Beyond Russian ‌and Belarusian forces, contingents from India,⁣ Bangladesh, Iran, burkina Faso, Congo, and ⁢Mali are participating.Notably, 23 countries have dispatched observers​ to the exercises, including ‍three NATO members: the United ⁤States, Türkiye, and Hungary.⁤

“I⁤ hope it has been useful ‍from the professional⁣ point of view. And from the‍ point of ⁣view ‍of establishing such a high level of ⁢trust among our‍ countries, it has undoubtedly been,” Putin remarked, expressing gratitude to the foreign representatives in attendance.
