“Taking into account Patriarch Kirill’s call, I instruct the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to implement a ceasefire regime along the entire line of contact of the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 this year until 24:00 on January 7 this year,” the press service of the president said in a statement.
“Due to the fact that a large number of Orthodox citizens live in the war zones, we request the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and allow them to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on Christmas Day,” he said Putin’s order.
On Thursday, Patriarch Kirill called for a Christmas truce in the war zone.
