President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin accepted Indonesia’s invitation to the G20 summit. However, it is not yet known if he will attend the meeting in person.
How the portal transmits Bloomberg, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the war in Ukraine and the pandemic are affecting the global economy. In the context of this, the head of state invited Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky to the G20 summit.
“I expressed hope that the war could end soon and a peaceful negotiated solution could move forward. We understand that the G20 can be a catalyst for global economic recovery,” Widodo said.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not specify whether Putin plans to attend the meeting of heads of state in person. According to him, while the Russian Federation is preparing for the summit in Bali, it is “premature” to discuss the details of its participation. Peskov made such a statement during a meeting with Russian media journalists.
G20 summit in Indonesia: what is known
- The meeting will be held from 15 to 16 November in Bali, Indonesia. The heads of states with the largest economies in the world should arrive there.
