Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann lashed out at the Akal Takht Jathedar, accusing him of ‘inciting’ the public

Chandigarh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann separatist Amritpal Singh and the public by giving an ultimatum to the AAP government to release all the Sikh youths caught in the police action against its associates ‘provoke’ For this, on Tuesday, the Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Harpreet Singh was targeted. The Chief Minister told the Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the highest religious body of the Sikhs, that it would be better if he issued an ultimatum on sacrilege or missing ‘saroops’ (copies) of the Guru Granth Sahib. Significantly, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh had on Monday given an ultimatum to the AAP government asking them to release the Sikh youths caught during police action against Amritpal Singh and his associates within 24 hours. The Jathedar also criticized the state government for invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against some people during the police action.

On March 18, the Jathedar of Akal Takht in Amritsar, Amritpal Singh and his organization ‘Waris Punjab De’ Sikh organizations, intellectuals, Sikh lawyers, journalists, religious and social leaders were called to discuss the situation related to action against. Criticizing the Jathedar on the ultimatum, Mann tweeted in Punjabi language, ‘Jathedar Shri Akal Takht Sahib Ji. Everyone knows you and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has been taking the side of the Badal family.
