“The corona pandemic made measures necessary to contain the infection, which also led to restrictions on economic activity. The result was negative effects on the labor market. This report deals with the effects of the corona crisis on the labor market in Lower Saxony and Germany Bremen for the period April 2020 to March 2021. For this, a so-called corona effect is calculated, which describes the part of the change in unemployment that is largely due to the corona crisis. In order to do justice to the very different regions affected by the crisis , the consideration is not only carried out at the state level, but also at the district level. For the districts and urban districts, there are sometimes significant differences with regard to the corona effect, which are due, among other things, to the regional industry structure and the proportion of employees in small businesses Corona effect in the Re regions in which there is a high proportion of employees in branches of the economy in which economic activities have been severely restricted by the pandemic.
