Publica launches climate-efficient stock index

Tailored for it, the new tool should allow the Federal Pension Fund to make its entire equity portfolio climate-efficient by the end of 2021.

The new index will fully take into account the effects of climate change on investments. Investments in companies with negative exposure may be reduced, while those in companies prepared for climate risks or having models in favor of reducing CO2 emissions will be overweight, PUBLICA said on Tuesday.

With this new stock market index, licensed by MSCI, the Federal Pension Fund believes that it will be able to significantly improve its management of risks and opportunities linked to the climate. Concretely, it is possible to count with, at least, 30% less risk and, at least, 30% more opportunity than the initial stock market index. (Awp)
