The Minister of Public Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, revealed that two sources of contagion of people who were outside the country have been identified in Salcedo and they obtained special authorizations to return to Dominican territory.
In the press conference transmitted by digital media, corresponding to today, the minister said that care must be taken when issuing this type of authorization, specifically when it comes to people who want to come to the country from US cities such as New York and New Jersey, where there are a considerable number of coronavirus cases.
He also stated that “the arrival of travelers can be a threat.”
According to bulletin 33 of the Ministry of Public Health, 5,044 positive cases and 245 deaths have been registered in the country.
The Hermanas Mirabal province, where the municipality of Salcedo is located, has accumulated 125 accumulated cases, of which four were in less than 24 hours.
Five citizens of Hermanas Mirabal have also been recovered and one person has died.
