Public Health tightens the screw in snowmobile relays

Snowmobilers will now be prohibited from eating inside snowmobile relays in red zones, Public Health has declared.

Since the start of the season, they could order a take-out meal from the relays operating a restaurant and pick it up in the dining room, as long as they complied with the sanitary measures.

The thing is no longer possible. Snowmobilers are now forced outside to eat. They are only allowed inside to order, to warm up or to use the sanitary facilities.

Relays are not thrilled with these changes. “Since it opened, it has always worked well. Above all, we don’t really see the logic between going inside without a meal and with a meal, ”remarked Émile Sauvé, from the Ô Quai des Brasseurs relay in Bécancour. He fears having to stop welcoming snowmobilers in the next few hours.

The snowmobile relays had to invest in reorganization to comply with the first batch of rules concerning them at the start of the season. “I will not replace Public Health, but I think that people had done an important job to respect the instructions”, noted Nadia Moreau, responsible for economic development of the MRC Mékinac.

To adjust to the changes, Relais la Station in Saint-Séverin has decided to open an outdoor dining room with spaced picnic tables, chairs, bench, wood fireplace, worksite toilets and high piles. of snow to cut the wind and create a little privacy.
