Psychonauts 2 is now developer Double Fine’s great contribution to the Xbox game showcase. And the studio took the opportunity to remind fans that the game will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC soon. But now it’s also coming to Xbox Series X. As part of the announcement, Double Fine has invited comedian Jack Black to sing a new song for the game.
It was a long road for Psychonauts 2 to reach its release. Double Fine first announced the project at the Game Awards in 2015. At that time, the company presented the idea to the crowdfunding platform. Fig. The project raised $ 3.3 million. During development, however, Microsoft acquired Double Fine and integrated it into Xbox Games Studios. Now Microsoft is releasing Double Fine’s Action Adventure. This led to the game appearing during the Xbox E3 presentation in 2019 – although this will not affect the release of Psychonauts 2 on other platforms.
The game was originally slated to launch in 2019, but Double Fine delayed it to polish the experience. Microsoft’s financial support made this possible.
Psychonauts 2 follows the ongoing tales of psychic spy Raz. As in the original game, players will use Raz’s psi powers to navigate the psyches of various characters.
