Rik Elfrink expects PSV to take a closer look at the selection in the coming weeks. Among other things, the big question will be whether André Ramalho will continue to play football in Eindhoven, he says in the AD Football Podcast.
Personal mistakes Ramalho
Two years ago, the experienced Brazilian came over from RB Salzburg. He had to provide PSV with extra qualities, but turned out to be unable to complete a clear season under both Roger Schmidt and Ruud van Nistelrooij. He made mistakes at important moments, Elfrink also saw.
“Ramalho is really often seen as a source of unrest,” says Elfrink. “He has trouble defending with a lot of space in his back. I don’t think he’s good enough for the top. And if it just isn’t, it won’t be soon. Actually, it is a player who performs at the level of number 4 or 5 in the Eredivisie.”
“He makes too many mistakes. He was decisive against Rangers FC with that mistake. He made a mistake against sc Heerenveen last week. Ultimately, that determines whether you are a top defender or not,” the journalist concludes in the podcast. The defensive force is still under contract with PSV until the summer of 2024.
Departure from PSV
PSV is reportedly working hard on the arrival of Peter Bosz, who uses an offensive style of play. With the footballing qualities of Ramalho, it does not seem that the Eindhoven team will continue with the defender. A summer departure is therefore in the offing, which is expected to yield several million euros.
