PSV Expected to Secure Goalkeeper Matej Kovar on Permanent Deal
Eindhoven, Netherlands – PSV is highly likely to finalize the permanent transfer of goalkeeper matej Kovar from Bayer Leverkusen following a successful loan spell, according to reports from Eindhovens Dagblad. The 25-year-old’s loan agreement includes a purchase option, and sources indicate the conditions for its activation are close to being met.
Initial attempts to secure Kovar last summer where stalled by Leverkusen, who wished to structure the deal to recognize the sale in the 2026/27 financial year after already generating over €100 million in player sales. This led to the current loan arrangement with a purchase option.
While reports from BILD suggested PSV’s Eredivisie survival automatically triggers the purchase obligation, further steps are anticipated before the deal is fully completed. However, sources within the football industry suggest the option will “normally be fulfilled quickly.”
Kovar is reportedly eager to remain with PSV for “a few more years.” The transfer fee is set at €5 million, with the potential to rise to €7 million through performance-based bonuses.
