PSV striker Ritsu Doan leaves for SC Freiburg. The 24-year-old Japanese provides the Eindhoven residents a considerable amount and signs a multi-year contract with the club that finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season.

Both PSV and Freiburg report nothing about the transfer fee, but domestic and foreign media talk about an amount of 8 to 8.5 million euros. With this, PSV makes a small profit on Doan.

The 26-time international of Japan came over from FC Groningen three years ago for 7.5 million euros. In the service of PSV, he could never fully convince. In the 2020/2021 season, Doan was leased to Arminia Bielefeld.

Last season, Doan made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring eleven times and providing three assists. As a PSV player, he was good for a total of 64 matches, thirteen goals and six assists.

Doan is the ninth player to leave PSV this summer. Previously, Yvon Mvogo, Michal Sadílek, Mathias Kjølø, Ryan Thomas, Mario Götze, Bruma, Eran Zahavi and Maxi Romero left the 24-time national champion.

This is offset by the arrival of a large number of players. Next season, trainer Ruud van Nistelrooij will have access to Walter Benítez, Boy Waterman, Ki-Jana Hoever, Xavi Simons, Guus Til and Luuk de Jong, among others.
