PSSI on the Kanjuruhan tragedy: God’s will

The Executive Committee (Exco) of PSSI Sonhadji said that Arema FC’s match against Persebaya on 1 October worked according to their main duties and responsibilities. She said The Kanjuruhan tragedy it is the will of Almighty God.

Of course, this is beyond our will, so there is nothing we can do, this is God’s will, “the Executive Committee of PSSI (Exco) Sonhadji told reporters from Komnas HAM, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (13/10/2022).

He said no one wanted the tragedy that killed 132 people to happen. The PSSI, Sonhadji said, expressed deep condolences for the incident.

“What I mean is that yesterday’s Kanjuruhan tragedy was against all of our will, no one wanted it to happen,” he said.

He said PSSI will follow the input and advice provided by Komnas HAM.

“The point is that in the previous meeting, Komnas HAM emphasized more how PSSI will hold football matches in a safer and more comfortable way for the spectators. Of course, now and in the past, as any PSSI can organize a good match, which is safe and comfortable, but there are still accidents happening and this is against our will, “he said.

“Therefore, improvements, suggestions, good inputs, we have recorded all this and God willing, in the future the PSSI will be followed by the Secretary General, the other clubs,” he added.

Investigation of Komnas HAM

Earlier, Komnas HAM disclosed the results of the investigation The Kanjuruhan tragedy which killed 132 people. One result is the overcapacity factor that causes the victim to fall.

Initially, Komnas commissioner HAM Choirul Anam explained that the posture of the Kanjuruhan stadium was only sufficient for a capacity of 38 spectators. Anam revealed this by showing a photo of the official posture of the stadium.

“This is the location of the Kanjuruhan stadium, 38 thousand (public). This is official. This is the official figure of 38 thousand. This is the size of the gate and so on here,” Anam said in a press conference on Wednesday (12 / 10).

Anam says this will be investigated. Because the printed tickets exceed the capacity of the stadium. This overcapacity is one of the reasons for the many victims.
