FEDERATION Indonesian Football (PSSI), through the General Chairman Mochamad Iriawan officially proposed Indonesia as the host Asian Cup 2023. If approved by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), it will affect the fate of the draw Indonesian National team in the upcoming 2023 Asian Cup.
As is known, China has officially resigned as the host of the AFC Cup next year. This is inseparable from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Previously, the AFC had given a registration deadline of June 30, 2022 for countries wishing to apply as hosts. However, given the current situation, the AFC has decided to extend the mid-time registration for the home team, until July 5, 2022.
Meanwhile, Mochamad Iriawan said PSSI officially volunteered to host the upcoming 2023 Asian Cup. The man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule also thanked the Menpora, Zainudin Amali for providing support for Indonesia’s proposal to host the event.
“After PSSI coordinated with the government, in this case the Ministry of Youth and Sports, finally PSSI officially volunteered to host the 2023 Asian Cup. PSSI also thanked the government, in this case Menpora Zainudin Amali, who has supported this plan,” said Iriawan, quoted from the official website. PSSI, Tuesday (28/6/2022).
Furthermore, Mochamad Iriawan explained that all the requirements requested by the AFC would soon be prepared. He also said, when the requirements are complete it will be sent as soon as possible.
“We will prepare all the requirements requested by the AFC immediately and we will send it as soon as possible,” he said.
So far, four countries have volunteered to host, namely Australia, Japan, South Korea and Qatar. Japan and South Korea have hosted the 2002 World Cup.
Likewise, South Korea and Australia also have good stadium infrastructure. Moreover, Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup. Not only do they have a good stadium, they are also very ready to welcome World Cup participants.
On the other hand, if it is true that Indonesia will be the host Asian Cup 2023, practically it will affect the drawing of the Indonesian national team. Just so you know, Pot drawing Indonesian National team it could change and go to Pot 1. Because in Pot 1 the drawing consisted of the home team and the team with the top five FIFA rankings at the Asian level.
