PSP identified cars that paralyzed Second Circular in honor of accident victims

PSP has already identified some of the cars that paralyzed the Second Circular on Sunday in Lisbon, to honor the three people who died on Friday on that road.

Several hundred people gathered on Sunday morning at the Second Circular, causing three kilometers of lines, towards Aeroporto-Benfica, for about half an hour.

It is spontaneous action will have served to honor the three people who died on that road, on Friday, following a screening.

In addition to the roadblock, some of the participants will have released several dozen white balloons, with lights, next to an air traffic location.

Speaking to the agency Lusa, the sub-commissioner Ana Carvalho said that the PSP has already identified some of the vehicles that participated in this action, but none of the participants.

Ana Carvalho explained that the identification of the vehicles was possible through the number plates, but that this information “allows only to know who owns the vehicle and not who was driving it that night”.

The authorities estimate that about 500 people participated in this action.

The PSP sub-commissioner said some irregularities were detected in the vehicles identified, namely lack of registration, inspection and canceled registrations.

“What is going to happen now I don’t know. Certainly some of the owners will be notified, but it is something that we no longer have to know”, he said.

Regarding the release of the balloons, Ana Carvalho said that it will be determined whether this action “jeopardized airport security”.

A light vehicle crashed around 1:00 am on Friday, in an accident that killed three men, the only occupants of the car.

The vehicle overturned and hit a lamppost, which ended up invading the roads in the opposite direction (Benfica-Aeroporto), damaging a portico of directional panels.

On Friday, traffic was partially cut off to remove the information portal that was damaged during the accident.
