PSG: Mbappé hesitates with extension – club push for decision

According to the newspaper, PSG would like to extend Mbappé’s contract by four or five years and, from the club’s point of view, made the attacker a very interesting offer financially during the Corona crisis. However, Mbappé did not get all the answers to his questions in order to tie himself to PSG for so long: What is the long-term project like? How will the team change? What place will it take? Mbappé said internally that he wanted to continue his deliberations.

PSG urges Mbappé to make an early decision – no free transfer

A quick solution is not in sight. However, this does not mean that Mbappé, who has always insisted on being “happy in Paris”, is planning to leave in the summer. However, PSG cannot wait much longer and are pushing for an early decision. Should Mbappé decide against an extension, PSG want to be able to strive for a sale and a plan B in order not to lose Mbappé for free and to be able to sign a corresponding big name as a replacement. “When you consider what is at stake, the club is obliged to act,” the “L’Équipe” quoted a source closely related to the case. “A player like him can’t wait for his contract to expire in less than two years.”

Currently, the status quo – no exit, but also no extension – is the most likely starting position until summer, and possibly even beyond. It remains to be seen whether PSG can and will accept it. The talks with Mbappé are a game with fire: Should the sporting leadership put Mbappé under pressure to get an answer at all costs and to prevent a free transfer, it might not be the answer PSG hoped for in the end.
