PSG Makes a Fool of Themselves in Last Home Game with Messi and Ramos

Last week, PSG became early French champions with a 1-1 draw. In the last home game of the season, to say goodbye to the superstars Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, who are leaving the club, the capital club made a fool of themselves, losing 2-3 to Clermont Foot.

Before the game, the stars walked into the stadium with their children. There was no official farewell to Messi or Ramos, instead fans in the stands celebrated another: Sergio Rico. It actually started well for the hosts, Ramos with a header (16th) and Kylian Mbappé with a penalty (21st) gave the champions a 2-0 lead. But the guests didn’t even think about being just sparring partners at the championship celebration. Johan Gastien (24′), Mehdi Zeffane (45′ + 1′) and Grejohn Kyei (63′) turned the game around, benefiting from some embarrassing defensive errors by the home side. Marco Verratti put the ball on Gastien’s own six-yard box, Warren Zaire-Emery smashed the ball away with his upper arm in his own penalty area, but Kyei missed the hand penalty (38′).

And Messi, the seven-time world footballer, the GOAT (Greatest of All Time)? Remain completely unobtrusive. According to reports in Saudi Arabia, he is due to be presented at Al-Hilal on Tuesday. His annual salary is said to be around 500 million euros there.

PSG fans will not shed tears for the Argentine. The club management said goodbye to the world champion with a rather sober tweet: “After two seasons in the capital, the adventure between Leo Messi and Paris Saint-Germain will come to an end at the end of the 2022/23 season. The club wishes Leo many more successes for the rest of his emotional career.”
