New PS5 Update announced: Enhanced controller‌ Connectivity & Eco-Friendly Gaming⁤ Arrive September 17, 2025

Sony⁢ has revealed a meaningful system update for the PlayStation 5, rolling out globally beginning September 17, ‍2025. The forthcoming software enhancements address long-requested features, focusing on improved controller functionality and reduced energy consumption.

This update arrives as⁣ gamers increasingly utilize the PS5 across multiple devices and seek more lasting technology options. The changes will impact all PS5 owners, streamlining connectivity ⁤for DualSense ‍and DualSense edge⁣ controllers and offering a new ‍power-saving mode for select titles. This positions Sony to meet ⁤its “Road⁤ to ‌Zero” ⁣environmental sustainability plan, aiming for atmospheric neutrality by 2040.

A key improvement allows players to pair⁤ their controllers with ⁤up to four ‌devices simultaneously – including the PS5, PCs, ⁣and smartphones - and swiftly⁣ switch between them using a dedicated button combination (PS button + Action button). Previously, users‌ needed ‍to re-pair controllers each time they transitioned between platforms, a process now simplified, especially for those leveraging Remote ⁢Play.

Beyond connectivity, the‌ update introduces a “Power Saver for Games” feature, enabling reduced ⁤power consumption in supported games. Initial titles benefiting⁤ from this mode include Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, demon’s Souls, and Ghost of ⁤Yōtei. This feature directly supports Sony’s commitment to environmental responsibility, offering a tangible way for players to contribute to ‍a more sustainable gaming experience.
