PS5 comes before Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch for video game developers: DailyGame

Switch vs. PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One

Most video games currently appear for the Nintendo Switch each year. This is of course also due to the fact that Nintendo is very interested in indie titles for its hybrid console. But what do the video game developers say about the future? Which system would you most like to develop a video game for? The GDC survey gives us an answer.

The next generation of consoles will appear later this year. The idea of console generations is getting worse because we have now received PRO versions in addition to the standard versions. At least in the current console generation. Names like “Xbox Series X”Suggests, however, that it’s not just one XboxConsole will stay. There are even rumors of one PS5 PROthat should appear in 4 years. Switch 4K (or Switch PRO) is also in the room. The question arises: For which platform do the video game developers want to release something?

Before the annual GDC (Game Developers Conference) was asked in a survey which system the participating developers are most interested in. PC was by far the best-placed system with 50% of the developers who voted for it. When it comes to consoles PS5 with a decent lead of 38% to 25% ahead of Xbox Series X (still listed as a Scarlett code name). Nintendo but keeps the water much narrower at 37%. For Virtual reality 27% are interested, also a very remarkable market.

From a logical point of view, this makes sense in a sense, because Sony was so dominant on the sales front in this generation. Most developers probably expect a similar situation for the next generation. The PlayStation 5 has sold over 106 million consoles since 2013. The Xbox One has so far managed “only” 41 million and that Nintendo Switch (since 2017) is 42 million units sold, as we reported a few days ago,
