PS5 and the ‘paradox’ of DualSense not working on PS4 but perfectly compatible with Microsoft’s xCloud • Eurogamer.it

Youtuber Austin Evans recently received from Sony a controller PlayStation 5 DualSense, so you can do one of the first public unboxing. The influencer analysis has brought to light many qualities of the Sony peripheral, but there is one detail that cannot help but get you a laugh, especially as paradoxical as it is.

In the video of Evans, available at the bottom of the news, the youtuber has tried some interesting experiments of compatibility with the DualSense, testing it both on the consoles of the current gen, PS4, and with the devices of the competition.

Predictably, the PlayStation 5’s DualSense is not compatible with Xbox One The Xbox Series X, but it was nice to try. Same result for PlayStation 4: the console does not read the new generation controller, even if it recognizes the integrated microphone. We don’t know if full compatibility will be added in the future with a patch, or removed entirely, but at the moment it is not possible to play with DualSense.

The real surprise? At about 6:25 am, Evans tried to connect the controller to the cloud gaming service of Microsoft, Project xCloud and, unbelievably true, the compatibility was practically perfect. This means that today and in the future, it will be possible to use the PlayStation 5 controller to play Xbox games on xCloud, such as Power, Gears, Halo and company.

Obviously, the atypical feedback, unique to DualSense and PlayStation 5, was not available during the match, but that was to be expected.
