In the future, you’ll have to wait at least a year to encounter PlayStation-exclusive games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC.
This news was reported through a video interview between Julien Chiez, a YouTuber specializing in games, and Hermen Hulst, president of PlayStation Studio, released on the 4th. In the video, Hermen Hulst said: “Excluding live service games, the release interval for PlayStation Studio games on consoles and PC platforms will be at least one year. ” Put simply, it will take at least a year before a single player PlayStation exclusive is released on PC. The detailed reason for the one-year difference was not disclosed.
Following the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn PC in 2020, Sony released Days Gone, God of War, and Spider-Man Remastered PC. Most PC versions didn’t come out until at least two years after they were released on consoles. However, as this cycle is getting shorter, it was thought that the PlayStation exclusive would be released on PC first. Hermann Hulst’s observations seem to be aware of this story.
However, as mentioned above, games provided as live services can be released at any time regardless of the aforementioned period. For reference, Sony has announced that it plans to release a total of 10 live service games by March 2026. Among these are the multiplayer titles of The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn.
