Protested by the people, Lukashenko gets off the carrying helicopter …

MINSKPresident Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, made a dramatic helicopter landing at his residence in Minsk late Sunday, carrying an AK assault rifle. This unusual action was carried out when demonstrators gathered near his residence.

Landing Lukashenko it was recorded andposting by the Telegram channel associated with the press service of the Belarusian president. Video footage shows the president wearing a tactical vest and carrying an AK assault rifle.

Before landing, Lukashenko was seen flying a helicopter over Minsk while talking to the pilot on the phone. He then landed, accompanied by a young man who looked like his 15 year old son, Nikolay or better known as Kolya. (Read: Deeper Political Crisis, Belarusian Regime Crimes Opposition)

Several other gunmen are also seen in another video. After landing, the president casually walked towards his residence with the gun in hand. He was, as quoted Russia Today, Monday (24/8/2020), asked the people nearby; “There’s no one out there, right?”

There is also video footage from inside the helicopter showing the president ordering the pilot to fly closer to the road, allowing him to get a closer look at the anti-government protesters below. The weapon of the long-reigning president can be seen leaning on his side during the flight.

The previous evening, anti-government demonstrators approached Lukashenko’s residence and chanted the slogan “Go!”. They met with the OMON riot police and returned to the city center sometime later.

Belarus or Belarus has been rocked by a wave of mass anti-government protests triggered by the results of the presidential election (pilpres) on August 9, 2020. The opposition believes the election results were fabricated.

The official results of the presidential election show Lukashenko received more than 80 percent of the vote, and critics accused him of rigging the presidential election. The political crisis has sparked demonstrations and mass strikes across the country in recent weeks.

The election results were also opposed by several Western countries including the United States and European Union countries. These countries refused to accept the results of the Belarusian presidential election and supported the protests.
