200 people put up a chain of lights against the planned ICE route in Darmstadt on Monday evening. The vigils should go on.

Darmstadt. Against the planned ICE route along Eschollbrücker Straße in Darmstadt, the Wetswald Alliance protested loudly with whistles and bells on Monday evening. About 200 people came to the vigil with fairy lights, said spokesman Michael Mokler of the FR. The response from residents is still very high. That is why they want to hold more vigils until the local elections in the spring. “We want to keep the pressure on,” said Mokler. The next vigil will take place on Monday, December 7th, at 6 p.m.

The protest is directed against the section of the new Mannheim-Frankfurt route near Darmstadt. Environmentalists fear that the western forest will be destroyed. Noise pollution is also a concern for people.
