World champion in the 110m hurdles Sergey Shubenkov spoke about the attitude towards the Ukrainian athlete Olga Saladukhawho proposed to remove Russian athletes from all international competitions.
– So you asked about friends from the world of athletics. Olga Saladukha was such an athlete with whom I communicated a little more than with others. We can say that he was even friends with her, including my coach who communicated well with her. She was a great athlete.
As for Saladukhi’s statement, she knocked on the open door. Many international federations were already set against us. I don’t understand what exactly she deserves. She wants to ascribe something to herself, well, good luck. Do you know what city Saladukh is from?
– From Russian?
– Not. Ukraine considers this city its own.
– From Donetsk?
– Right. She is from Donetsk. In 2014, she could not get home for several months, and I remember that situation well. After that, Olga loomed up new career prospects in the form of a seat of a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada. As soon as these prospects loomed, she began to describe in a different way this whole bad situation that happened to her.
She could not return home to Donetsk, and then there was nowhere to return. As far as you know, professional athletes are not the poorest people, and she got a good job in Kyiv. Her opinion about the whole situation in the Donbass has changed, and she received a seat in the Rada (in 2019 – Sports.ru). Well, even now, with Olga’s deputy position, nothing else can be expected from her.
– Are you offended that Saladuha has changed so much?
– On the one hand, everything is clear, on the other – a little offensive, – said Shubenkov.
