TU Graz celebrates “100 years of women’s studies” at technical universities
Graz University of Technology is celebrating the anniversary with a celebration on May 10th followed by the opening of the exhibition.
The show in the foyer of the Alte Technik provides insights into the lives of women at Graz University of Technology from 1919 to the present. Original documents as well as historical images and biographies of “pioneers” of women’s studies and teaching at Graz University of Technology will be presented. The exhibition also provides information about the activities with which TU Graz wants to increase the proportion of women in technology. These include, for example, professorships, career management programs or measures for the compatibility of family and work, but also initiatives such as the “T3UG-Ferialjobs‘ and the project ‘FIT – women in technology” such as “CoMaed“-Workshops and scholarship programs designed to motivate schoolchildren and young women to pursue a scientific and technical education and a technical career.
The festive ceremony will take place in the run-up to the opening of the exhibition at 4:30 p.m. in the Graz University of Technology auditorium. The event will focus on exciting lectures by Juliane Mikoletzky (Archive of the TU Vienna), Sabine Herlitschka (Chairwoman of the Board of Infineon Technologies Austria AG) and TU Graz Vice Rector Claudia von der Linden as well as personal career reports by Cornelia Kawann, Head of the Market Surveillance Section at the Eidgenössische Electricity Commission ElCom and TU Graz science star Johanna Pirker.
