Prosecutors warn, prison for rioters

US prosecutors, representing the four districts state of Texas, have warned that anyone who commits a crime will be prosecuted in the state Capitol or in violation of federal law, prior to the ceremony for the change of powers in the United States.

U.S. Attorney Patrick has joined his counterparts, U.S. Attorneys Gregg N. Sofer and Stephen J. Cox, and Acting U.S. Attorney Prerak Shah of the districts West, East, and North Texas, respectively, to warn those planning to cross state lines to commit crimes in Texas or at the state capitol.

As main officers of the forces of order in each of the districts Federal, United States prosecutors will work with federal, state, and local authorities across the state to identify crimes that violate federal law. The plan is to ensure that anyone who is arrested for committing looting, violence or any other crime related to protests or similar events, on or around the day of the presidential inauguration, is prosecuted and held in federal custody pending further criminal proceedings.
