Prosecutors Urge Trump To Release Tax Papers | NOW

Prosecutors in the state of New York on Monday demanded before a federal judge that a subpoena for the release of the tax returns of President Donald Trump be maintained. That writes CNN.

Trump filed a lawsuit against the subpoena last week, but prosecutors have asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit.

The subpoena states that Trump should release his personal and business tax returns from the past eight years. Public prosecutors in New York want to see the documents to find out if Trump has passed the hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels.

The US Supreme Court also decided last month that Trump should provide access to his financial accounts, including his tax returns.

In a news conference, Trump called the prosecutors’ demand Monday “the sequel to a witch-hunt.” According to the president, the subpoena is far too broad and there is no need for prosecutors to request so many documents.

‘Research does not only focus on hush money’

However, according to the prosecutors, the investigation focuses not only on the hush money, but also on other transactions. The president’s tax papers would be required to “expose extensive and protracted criminal conduct with the Trump Organization.

American Democrats have been trying to access Trump’s tax papers for years. He himself said in the 2016 presidential elections that he would make them public later, but that has not happened so far.

Democrats suspect Trump wants to withhold details about his personal assets and potential conflicts with business partners caused by his presidency.
