Cinematographer Galina Hutchins died on the set of Rust in October 2021 after being shot from a prop gun that turned out to be loaded with live ammunition.
The gun at the time of the shot was in the hands of Baldwin, he himself claimed that he did not pull the trigger. However, forensic scientists in their report stated that the weapon could not have fired on its own.
The family of the deceased Hutchins filed a civil lawsuit against the actor as well as the film crew, stating that the defendants were aware of the security problems. Also, several more lawsuits against each other were filed by the participants in the filming, including Baldwin.
