The Public Prosecutor (JPU) questioned former Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit of South Jakarta (Jaksel) Police, AKBP Ridwan Soplanit on AKBP Arif Rachman Arifin’s expression while watching CCTV video showing Brigadier N Joshua Hutabarat is still alive. Ridwan said that at that moment he could not see Arif’s expression because it was already dark and there was little light.
It is known that besides Arif there are two subordinates Freddy Sambo Also watching the CCTV video were Kompol Chuck Putranto and Kompol Baiquni Wibowo. Sambo’s men borrowed Ridwan’s terrace to view CCTV footage. Ridwan Soplanit’s house is known to be next door to the official residence of Ferdy Sambo, which was the scene of Yosua’s murder.
“His expression was grim, sir, he was weak, right? I couldn’t stand him, I immediately connected his facial expression,” Ridwan said when he became a witness at the trial to continue the obstruction of the investigation into Brigadier’s murder case Yosua Hutabarat, Friday (25/11/2022).
Ridwan said AKBP Arif and two other subordinates of Sambo watched the CCTV video at 02:00 WIB in the morning. He also said that the conditions of the lights on the terrace of his house at that time did not turn on.
“You said it was night time, 0200 WIB, how was the light?” asked the prosecutor.
“It won’t light up, sir,” Ridwan replied.
Chief Justice Ahmad Suhel then asked the prosecutor not to continue the matter. This was because, the judge said, Ridwan Soplanit did not watch the CCTV video that was watched by the Sambo men on the terrace of the house.
“One moment, Mr. Prosecutor, there was nothing to look at on the 13th, don’t ask again,” the judge said.
“Your Honor, in our indictment of the 13th, defendant Arif, along with Chuck and Baiquni, opened their laptop there and watched the tape of the incident,” the prosecutor said.
“Yes, did a relative (Ridwan) explain that before?” the judge asked Ridwan.
“No, not me,” Ridwan replied.
The prosecutor again asked what AKBP Arif’s expression was like when he stood up after seeing the CCTV video. Ridwan admitted that he only saw Arif standing and did not see his expression.
“If you don’t know that’s why we, Your Honor, after the witness returned to the terrace, the defendant stood up, then we asked him how was his expression?” asked the prosecutor.
“When I saw my elder standing, yes I saw him standing sir, not his face,” Ridwan replied.
“And (Kompol) Chuck?” asked the prosecutor.
“Especially Chuck Pak, he had my back,” Ridwan said.
“So I didn’t force myself to see his expression at the time. There was no concept of seeing his expression at the time,” he added.
