Prof. Konstantinov said when there will be parliamentary elections at the earliest

Until things are clarified in Ukraine, talking about early elections is irresponsible. Hunger is coming, tens of millions of migrants will leave Africa and Asia, says Prof. Mikhail Konstantinov in an interview with Standard.

Prof. Konstantinov, how would you comment on the latest data from Alpha Research, according to which over 58% of people do not like the government, but at the same time people are not ready for early elections?

– This is a paradox at first glance, but it is completely natural. We are in a very dangerous stage in the development not only of Bulgaria, but also of Europe and the world. So elections in the midst of fierce political struggle will be quite dangerous for the country. I don’t even think they will allow us to do them.

“Who won’t let us?”

– There are elections in Serbia, Hungary and France, but they are regular. In addition, they are held in a normal political environment. While here we are behaving like crazy and if there are more early elections – it is already too much.

There were two early votes last year. This management should go away, but this does not mean that we have to start the procedure tomorrow.

Personally, I think that until things are clarified in Ukraine, talking about early elections is irresponsible. This is a very important reason. Otherwise, this government is sinking in all directions.

– Where is the threshold of social tolerance?

– There is a subtle moment here. In order to have a new government, it is theoretically not necessary to have elections. A parliament can elect more than one government.

If a nationally responsible coalition is formed with strictly defined parameters and terms of existence – I call it the government of national salvation, it could wait until this autumn in this parliament, when it will be clear what will happen in Ukraine.

The fate of Europe and the world is currently being decided in Ukraine. Without any exaggeration. The next development of European and world society in the next at least 10 years, maybe more, will depend on this rearrangement, which will take place after the war.

So, in my opinion, the decision is to send a government of national salvation to lead the country in the next 5-6 months.

– Who should initiate the creation of such a government of national salvation?

– If the politicians sit down and understand each other, they can set the parameters of this government and it will be voted by this parliament. But I am afraid that our politicians are not so smart.

– Isn’t the coalition agreement something similar to what you are talking about?

– We do not have a coalition agreement at the moment. There are agreements between three political forces and what is called the “PP”. These are three parties and two more people.

That is why these are chaotic actions. If politicians come together and understand what they will do in the next 5-6 months in terms of points, topics and deadlines, they could do what I am talking about.

However, they will not do it because they are drummers. Only the MRF has sensible political behavior. It is very difficult for me to say that, because I am not a supporter of the MRF. But they are the only political force that is behaving normally at the moment.

They still carry the negatives of the previous government, which was not 12 but 10 years. And they cannot take over the country at the moment.

What is happening is very scary. There will be nothing to eat. This applies not only to Bulgaria, but to the whole world. Hunger is literally coming.

And if we in Europe and North America overcome this famine, tens of millions of migrants will leave Africa and some countries in Asia. This will be a hungry mob. For starters, in addition to all the other things.

– What is the role of the president in the current situation?

– Unfortunately, the president has been engaged in destructive activities for the last 2 years. He destroyed the political system that was operating. It was not perfect, on the contrary, there were many flaws. He destroyed it to secure a second term. Well, get it.

The President is indebted to the Bulgarian society and the Bulgarian people. Now he can use his authority and his powers, which are not small, to help jump over this extremely dangerous period that awaits us. How exactly – I can not give intelligence to anyone. The situation changes every day.

– How do you see the new project of Stefan Yanev?

– He has prospects, there is a niche for him, there is a potential for 300,000 votes.

– Who will have these votes?

“They’re everywhere.” Voices will come from the party, which will disintegrate. The BSP will lose more votes. “Revival” is also on the rise. However, they are still small.

– How would you comment on the processes in Europe, there were elections in Serbia, Hungary and France?

– It is very interesting what will happen in France. I still think Macron will win. But she can also win Le Pen, which is okay – she’s a normal politician. She was labeled “far right” – isn’t that forbidden? If she was extreme left, would it be better? It has been behaving perfectly normally for the last ten years.

– Speaking of Le Pen, speaking of the convincing victories of Orban and Vucic in Hungary and Serbia – which of our politicians is an analogue of these leaders who gather influence?

– There is no complete analogue, but in this sense – not particularly left, rather to the center, with a wider range – this is exactly Stefan Yanev.

It targets a wider circle of voters on the left side of the spectrum. He can hardly get support from the right, but there is a lot of electorate on the left who is wondering where to go. It also depends on whether they will remove the machine vote. Machines are extremely harmful.

In Europe, out of 500 million voters, only 5 million vote by machine. Countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland – all high-tech – have thrown away the machines.

In France, they made attempts, but also discarded the machines. The machines turned down 600,000 people. They are reducing the invalid vote, which by the way is not so big in Bulgaria – in our country it is high only in elections for municipal councilors – 15%.

This happened after the introduction of preferences. Otherwise it is about 4%. In Bulgaria for years the invalid vote was 1-2%.

– You link the change in our country with the world situation. Why?

– Of course. We are one hundredth in Europe and one thousandth in the world. Both in terms of population and territory, as well as in terms of economy.

Although 99% of things do not depend on us, this does not mean that our 1% should give it to us. We have to show common sense.
