April 23, 2021 – Janitos and an Apella subsidiary are adding coverage for vaccinations to their accident tariffs. The corona protection of the Hansemerkur now also applies to ship trips. In response to changes in travel behavior during pandemic times, Europ Assistance is introducing a new line of travel insurance products.

The Hansemerkur Reiseversicherung AG has increased the scope of the Corona supplementary insurance and reduced the premium. The corona travel protection in the travel cancellation insurance now also takes effect if there is a corona-related travel warning before the start of the journey. The trip cancellation insurance also applies to boat trips.
Additional travel protection from the Hansemerkur
The additional Corona protection costs nine euros with a travel price of 1,000 euros. There are no deductibles. The coverage is an addition to the products that include travel cancellation insurance and vacation guarantee.
The additional protection includes cancellation insurance before the trip and travel insurance. It applies to cases of personally ordered quarantine or refusal of transport or entry into the holiday home. It does not apply to officially ordered regional or supra-regional measures.
For trips with your own car, mobile home, bus or train
The Europ Assistance SA, branch for Germany has adjusted to the trend towards more individual trips with the product package “drive worry-free”. The options “Comfort” and “Premium” are single protection.
Cancellation and termination of a trip, travel assistance and bicycle protection are covered. “Premium” also includes international health and luggage protection. The costs for a patient repatriation within Germany are covered.
Janitos revises accident insurance
The Janitos Insurance AG has revised its accident tariff, among other things, in terms of personal movement, participation and insured costs. This year, “Basic” customers can switch to the higher-quality “Balance” or “Best Selection” variants without a new health check.
New in “Balance” are the assertion of disability up to 24 months and the crediting of participation from a share of 75 percent. Damage to health caused by movement is covered throughout the body. The limit for search, rescue and rescue costs was raised to 100,000 euros and for cosmetic operations to 75,000 euros.
In “Balance” and “Best Selection”, the risk of damage to health through vaccinations (such as the corona vaccination) is covered. This also applies to all existing accident insurance tariffs. The premiums for Janitos accident insurance remain unchanged despite the expansion of the benefits.
Deutsche Assekuradeur: Performance upgrade guarantee
The Deutsche Assekuradeur GmbH, a daughter of Apella AG, has replaced the standard clause in its “Plussimo Accident Insurance”, which covers the named infectious diseases, with a general formulation that includes vaccinations against all infectious diseases.
The framework conditions take into account damage that goes beyond the usual extent of a vaccination reaction, such as headache, joint pain or allergic reactions. Furthermore, the vaccination must be approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or prescribed or ordered by law.
Thanks to the service upgrade guarantee, the new clause will benefit around 8,000 existing customers.
