Producer price level in industry decreased by 2.1% in September

In September 2020, compared to September 2019, the average producer price level in Latvian industry has decreased by 2.1%. The price level for products sold on the domestic market has decreased by 3.2%, for exported products – by 1.0%. Prices for exports to euro area countries decreased by 1.1%, for exports to non-euro area countries – by 1.0%, according to Central Statistical Bureau (CSP) data.

The most significant impact was the reduction in prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply. The increase in the prices of repairs and installation of equipment and devices had an increasing effect.

In September 2020, compared to August, the level of producer prices in Latvian industry increased by 0.3%. The price level for products sold on the domestic market increased by 0.3%, for exported products – by 0.4%. The level of producer prices for exports to euro area countries decreased by 0.3%, while for exports to non-euro area countries it increased by 1.0%.

The increase in prices in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture, and in the manufacture of electricity had an upward effect. The decrease in prices in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products had a depressing effect.
