After a thorough examination, it became apparent that the high requirements for a criminal trial could not be met, the authority in Albany, the state capital, said on Tuesday. It was about allegations that the 64-year-old should have inappropriately touched an employee in his office during his time as governor.

Cuomo resigned in August after similar allegations from several women. He was governor of New York for ten years. “Like most New Yorkers, I am deeply disturbed by allegations like this one,” said county attorney David Soares. “Such behavior has no place in government and in no workplace.” Other regional prosecutors have already completed their investigations.

Last year, an investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James found that Cuomo had sexually harassed several state officials. Among other things, there were unwanted touches, kisses, hugs and inappropriate comments. In addition, the governor created a “hostile working atmosphere” and a “climate of fear” for women, the investigative report said. (dpa)
