Problems on the track continue: fewer trains tomorrow too

Tomorrow, just like today, trains will be canceled due to the shortage of traffic controllers, but also because of problems on the track. The problems affect routes in the center of the country.

Until 3 p.m. there are no trains between Utrecht and Arnhem and between Utrecht and Rhenen. Travelers can detour via Den Bosch. No train traffic is possible between Utrecht and Arnhem due to the staff shortage and a rail break on a level crossing, ProRail reports.

“The tracks are cast with a kind of resin in the level crossing, which makes replacing such a break complicated,” said the railway manager. “An extra challenge is that it concerns rails of up to 40 meters long. Rail workers will have to replace both rails.”

ProRail thinks it will be finished with the work tomorrow afternoon. One track can then be driven, because it takes eight hours for a special resin to cure on the repaired track.
