Zuhair Jalloul, a member of the former technical staff of Algeria, stated that the loss in the 2010 African Nations semi-finals against Egypt was due to “things that are not visible to the naked eye.”
Jalloul said in his remarks to the Algerian “Al-Mawtada” website: “In the African Cup finals, things were not easy. Followers and analysts may understand that. That copy of the national team emerged from a big and playoff match in Omdurman during the month of November.”
He continued: “In January we went to the finals of the Nations of Africa, for that mental, psychological and even physical fatigue was still present, despite that we knew how to go through the phases of the matches until we reached the golden square. Everyone saw that. “
He added: “In that meeting there were things that are not visible to the naked eye, the matters of the scenes so far I cannot go into details, but I confirm that the referee (Kofi Kogia) was not fair in his decisions and had a list of the names of the Algerian players targeted to get them out and the atmosphere of the match.”
He continued: “The evidence is that he expelled 3 players with the red card and thus succeeded in removing the entire Algerian national team psychologically from the atmosphere of the meeting, and despite this, the Algerian fans took to the streets to support the team because they knew we were targeted.”
