Upside-down world in Waidhofen an der Thaya: An inmate on free access detained two law enforcement officers and fled to a neighboring town.
Prisoner piled up in the neighboring town
While the judicial guards were stuck, the prisoner was piling up, according to the “Niederösterreichische Nachrichten”. He fled to the nearby Windigsteig, where he hid in a building. Investigators were still able to locate the man on Friday evening, but he was finally arrested by the police without resistance.
No further punishment for escape
There is no further punishment for the prisoner, because an attempt to escape is not punishable. There can only be punishments if further actions are taken while fleeing – such as resistance to state violence or bodily harm caused by tearing away, but also damage to property, such as damage to or opening a door when attempting to escape.
