Princess Delphine expresses her support for health care workers as’ b …

Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg (52) made her appearance on Tuesday at the St. Peter’s Hospital in the Marolles of Brussels, where a record number of hospital employees will be vaccinated against seasonal flu from Tuesday. The hospital emphasizes that Delphine herself has not asked for a flu shot – of which the supply is currently scarce – but that she must become the figurehead of their campaign. Princess Delphine would therefore not have received a vaccine.

“I am honored to be invited to this event, because if I can make myself useful in times of crisis, then it gives me great pleasure,” says Princess Delphine. “I represent myself. I am still Delphine as before. The outside world sees it as something extra, that title, but not me ”, she continues.

So her acting as a princess doesn’t feel like a new assignment. She supports the initiatives she supports. She has been active for years at the Red Cross Flanders and in the fight against HIV.

“Learned much”

On Tuesday, Princess Delphine was present at St. Peter’s Hospital to draw attention to the 3,000 employees of the Brussels hospital, as they will all be vaccinated against the flu in the coming days.

In this way, they want to build a wall in these vulnerable corona times so that the flu cannot affect the patients. Princess Delphine visited the various mobile units where the vaccines were placed and was also given a tour of the hospital.

“I have learned a lot and it is emotional to see how much solidarity there is within the hospital teams,” the princess concludes.

It was not the princess’s first public appearance. In October she unveiled a work of art by her hand in Sint-Niklaas.
