Princes William and Harry paid tribute to their grandfather

While Prince William described his grandfather as “an extraordinary man of an extraordinary generation,” his brother chose a more personal level. The BBC reported on Monday’s statements.

“One hundred years of my grandfather’s life was defined by service – his homeland and the Commonwealth, his wife and queen, and our family,” William said. “I consider myself happy not only because he was an example to me, but because of his constant presence in my life – both in good times and in the most difficult times,” said William.

Prince William subsequently added that he was extremely grateful for all the years during which his wife could get to know Philip Philip. He highlighted his childhood memories, which were dominated by his grandfather and his “infectious desire for adventure and a grateful sense of humor.”

William added that both he and his wife, Duchess Kate, would “continue to do what Philip wanted and support the Queen in the years to come.”

Legend in stroking, said Prince Harry

Harry, who flew to the UK last weekend, chose a more personal language in his statement. “He was authentic, with a keen mind and was able to keep the whole room alert thanks to his charm – and also because you never knew what he would say next,” said the Duke of Sussex.

“He will be remembered as the longest-living wife of the monarch, a distinguished member of the army, a prince and a duke. For me, as for many of you who lost your loved one or grandparent last year, it was primarily Grandpa: the master of barbecues, the legend of teasing and cheeky to the end, ”said Harry.

For the Queen, Prince Philip was a rock, Harry added, and represented an incomparable devotion. “I could go on and on, but I know he’d say to all of us right now with a beer in his hand, ‘Come on, move on,'” Harry added. “So with this advice, Grandpa, thank you for your service, for your devotion to your grandmother, and for always being yours,” Harry concluded.

He ended his statement with the words “Per Mare, Per Terram” (Latin for Sea and Land), which is the motto of the Royal Marines. Both Philip and Harry were her captain-general (ceremonial functions as commander-in-chief of the Royal Marines).
