Prince Harry (37) said he warned of the dangers of a coup in an email to Twitter boss Jack Dorsey just one day before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington.
The sixth in line to the British throne said at an online panel discussion on disinformation on the Internet on Tuesday.
When asked if he’d ever spoken to Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg or Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in person, Harry replied, “Jack and I were emailing each other back and forth before January 6th. I warned him that his platform would allow a coup. ”The email went out the day before the storm on the Capitol. “And I haven’t heard from him since,” the Royal continued.
Supporters of the then outgoing US President Donald Trump stormed the seat of the US Congress on January 6, 2021. Five people were killed, including a police officer. Trump had to face impeachment proceedings for inciting his supporters in a speech. He was acquitted.
The incidents are currently being dealt with by a committee of inquiry. The ex-US president used Twitter excessively for years to communicate with his followers. His account was permanently suspended shortly after the Capitol storm.
