Primary school teacher in Madrid suspected of sexually assaulting 36 young children

In Spain, the police have arrested a teacher suspected of sexually assaulting at least 36 children between the ages of four and eight. The man posted images of the abuse online, Spanish police said.

It concerns a Briton who has been working at primary school since 2016 with forged papers and a false Certificate of Good Behavior. In the United Kingdom, he had previously been sentenced to two years in prison for possession of child pornography.

In addition to his job as a teacher, he also looked after children at home, including as a carer and au pair. “The man has abused his position as a teacher to gain the trust of parents and students,” police said in a statement.

Anonymous information

The Australian police found the man in a major investigation into the sexual exploitation of minors on the internet. The suspect exchanged criminal photos and videos via the Tor network, a worldwide open network where people can share information anonymously. Certain features in the footage allowed the school in Madrid where the man was employed are identified.

At the same time, investigators also investigated which smartphone had been used. Because the suspect was using a device with an English-language operating system, his identity could be traced. Large numbers of computers, hard drives and image carriers containing child pornography have been found in the teacher’s apartment.
