Preventive Medicine experts ask to avoid crowds and visits to health centers

MADRID, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Society of Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Hygiene (SEMPSPH) asks citizens to act responsibly and avoid visits to health centers and places and / or events that involve agglomerations in which it is difficult to maintain at least one meter of distance with the rest of the people, since both circumstances can be a focus of contagion of Covid-19.

From the medical entity they insist again on the importance of adequate hand hygiene; not to cough or sneeze in the hand, but to do it in the elbow and in a tissue; of not touching the mouth, eyes and nose; if you do not go out if you have symptoms of respiratory disease and notify public health services if you think you may be infected with coronavirus.

Thus, remember that, when going as a patient or visitor to a health center, be it a hospital or a health center, you have to keep in mind that it is a “special” place in which contact with any surface is a mechanism of germ transmission.

In addition, it is a place where the transmission of diseases that are spread by drops when talking, coughing or sneezing is easy, so that in these spaces it is even more relevant to adopt basic prevention measures such as hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette .

In this sense, from SEMPSPH, it is requested that visits to health centers be avoided as far as possible and that, if necessary, special attention be paid to compliance with the previously described preventive measures.

It is especially stressed that “people who have respiratory symptoms avoid visits to hospitalized patients and do not go to their place of work or crowded places or events.”

Given the lack of specific treatment for Covid-19 coronavirus at present, strict compliance with hygienic measures and infection control are “essential” to avoid the occurrence of secondary cases.
