Padang Panjang, InfoPublic – In order to prevent transmission of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), officers from the Health Service (Dinkes) carried out fogging or fogging in several locations in Guguk Malintang Village, East Padang Panjang District, Tuesday (21/6/2022).

The Sub-Coordinator of Health and Health at the Health Office, Novriza Yulida, explained that this fogging was carried out because in the surrounding area there were residents who were indicated to have DHF. This fogging targets people’s homes and yards which may become a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

“Fogging is carried out if there are positive cases of dengue fever in a location. Then from the puskesmas through surveillance officers and sanitarian officers, they will conduct an epidemiological investigation (PE) to the location or to the house of the person who was declared positive,” he said.

If there are signs of Aedes mosquitoes or larvae being the transmission factor for the DHF virus, later through the RT and Dasawisma cadres, they will inform residents of a 100 meter radius to do mutual cooperation first, which aims to clean the environment before fogging is carried out.

His party reminded residents to actively take precautions so as not to be attacked by DHF, because the community’s role is more important in efforts to eradicate the Aedes Aegypti mosquito through the 3M movement (closing, draining and burying) equipment that holds water.

“Remember, fogging only kills adult mosquitoes. The larvae in the water cannot be fogged, so it is still possible later to breed into adult mosquitoes,” he explained.

Previously, his party had also carried out fogging in Koto Panjang and Tanah Hitam Villages.

“Because today we are doing fogging in Guguk Malintang, it means that next Tuesday a second fogging will be carried out. Because the mosquito cycle takes a week. Currently there is also a new case in Pasar Usang Village. Currently it is still in the PE stage by the relevant officers,” he said. . (mcpadanglong)
