Press Uighur Population, China Forced Abortion, Sterilization, and KB Programs Page all

XINJIANG, KOMPAS.com – The Chinese government is reportedly taking strong action to reduce the growth of Uighur tribes and other minority groups.

You do this by limiting the number of births, and encouraging the majority Han population to have more children.

The results of the news agency investigation Associated Press (AP), by examining data from the Chinese government and interviewing more than 30 people from the Uighur tribe, it shows that the policy seems to be carried out systematically.

Previously it was reported that there were women from the Uighur tribe who talked about birth control programs that they had to do.

A program that has been going on for the last four years in the Xinjiang area, some experts say is a form of “demographic massacre”.

Data and interviews conducted showed that the authorities repeatedly forced Uighur women to report pregnancy, forced the use of family planning devices such as IUDs, stratification, and even abortion.

The number of those forced to run the program is estimated at hundreds of thousands of people.

“Hundreds of thousands may be a slight estimate, because there are 15 million people of minority descent in Xinjiang,” said German researcher Adrian Zenz, who conducted the study and published the James Foundation in Washington this week.

The use of family planning devices, such as the IUD and sterilization, actually decreased nationally in China, but in Xinjiang it actually increased.

Efforts to limit population growth are also supported by mass detention, both of which are used as threats and penalties for those who do not comply with the rules.

“This is basically the detention of one of the largest ethnic groups since the Holocaust (Germany’s detention of Jews during World War II),” Zenz told the ABC.

According to APHaving too many children is one reason Uighurs are sent to detention centers.

Families with three or more children are forced to separate, unless they pay a large fine.

Police conduct raids on homes and have made parents worried because officers are looking for hidden children.

After Gulnar Omirzakh, a citizen of Kazakh descent had a third child, the government urged him to use an IUD.

If she doesn’t want to do it, she will join her husband and millions of other people who are detained in detention camps, because they have too many children.

It is wrong to prevent someone from having children,” Omirzakh said, in tears while remembering the forced installation of an IUD.

“They want to destroy us as citizens.”

According to AP, the result of the birth control campaign was the feeling of pressure among Uighurs regarding the possibility of having children.

In 2014, only around 240 thousand IUDs were installed in Xinjiang. In 2018 the figure will increase by around 60 percent, close to 330 thousand IUD installations.

At the same time, IUD use has decreased in China and many women have begun to release IUDs.

According to data from the Chinese government, birth rates in the two major Uighur regions, Hotan and Kashgar, dropped by 60 percent from 2015 to 2018.

Throughout the Xinjiang region, birth rates also declined, from 24 percent a year ago to 4.2 percent overall.

According to Adrian Zenz’s research, the Chinese government’s hundreds of millions of funds used to limit births have made Xinjiang change, from one of the largest growth regions to one of the slowest in just a few years.

The US Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, in his statement condemned the policy.

“The world received a disturbing report today that the Chinese Communist Party uses forced sterilization, forced abortion and forced birth control programs against Uighurs and other minority groups in Xinjiang as part of the ongoing suppression campaign,” Pompeo said.

“We call on the Chinese Communist Party to immediately stop this terrible practice and call on all countries to join the United States urging an end to these inhumane acts.”
