At the turn of the year, some values of the statutory pension insurance change. This was reported by the German Rhineland pension insurance.
The contribution calculation limit increases to EUR 7,300 (previously EUR 7,050) per month or EUR 87,600 per year (previously EUR 84,600). The highest earners only pay pension contributions up to this limit.
The contribution rate for pension insurance will continue to be 18.6% in the coming year as well.
Additional earnings limit for early retirement
For the calendar year 2023, the complete elimination of the additional earnings limit for early retirement is planned.
Voluntary insurance
Anyone who voluntarily pays into compulsory pension insurance in the next year can choose any amount between the minimum contribution of 96.72 euros and the maximum contribution of 1,357.80 euros per month.
Compulsory insurance for the self-employed
For self-employed workers subject to compulsory insurance, the flat-rate contribution will be 631.47 euros per month starting from 2023.
Health and long-term care insurance for retirees
The general contribution rate for compulsory health insurance will continue to be 14.6% in 2023.
The contribution surcharge for long-term care insurance for persons without children remains at 0.35%. This means that the nursing insurance contribution will remain at 3.4 per cent for contributors without children from 2023.
For taxpayers without a surcharge, the contribution will remain at 3.05% from 1 January 2023. The worker bears the contribution increase himself.
