Press area – Research on quantum technologies on the menu

On January 21, 2021, thehe President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, announced the launch of the quantum plan, which intends to organize the country’s research and industrial forces in this field, in order to position France as a key player in quantum technologies.

Quantum computers, communication and sensors, but also mechanics and quantum control, are all subjects that mobilize the entire national research and innovation community, public and private. In order to better understand what this covers and the challenges to be met, the CEA and the CNRS organized a press meeting with researchers specializing in quantum technologies and associated fundamental research, on January 22, 2021.

Press meeting co-hosted by Philippe Chomaz, Scientific Director at the Fundamental Research Department of CEA and Sébastien Tanzilli, Quantum Technologies Officer at CNRS, in the presence of:

– on fundamental research: Silvano de Fransceschi, researcher at CEA-Irig (CEA-Grenoble) and Alexia Auffèves, CNRS researcher at the Institut Néel (CNRS)

– on quantum computing: Maud Vinet, head of the quantum hardware program at CEA-Leti (CEA-Grenoble) and Tristan Meunier, CNRS researcher at the Institut Néel (CNRS)

– on quantum communication: Nicolas Sangouard, researcher at the Institute of Theoretical Physics (CEA-Paris-Saclay) and Eleni Diamanti, CNRS researcher at the LIP6 laboratory (CNRS / Sorbonne University)

– on the sensors: Patrice Bertet, research director at CEA-Iramis (CEA-Paris-Saclay) and Arnaud Landragin, CNRS researcher at the Syrte laboratory (CNRS / Observatoire de Paris-PSL / Sorbonne University)
