The government proposes for the next presidential to introduce an advance poll using voting machines, information spotted on Tuesday February 16, 2021 by the political service of TF1 – LCI.
According to the proposed amendment available on the Senate website, the following mention would be added to the electoral code: “Voters can at their request vote in advance in one of the offices open for this purpose. “
The bill includes several adaptations for the presidential election of spring 2022. The amendment was tabled Tuesday morning in the Senate, explains journalist Thomas Despré, from the political service of LCI, within the framework of the bill for the election of the President of the Republic.
A public session discussion is scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2021.

“The week before the election, voters would go to an office equipped with a voting machine and the count would take place on Sunday evening”, specifies the journalist.
“In each office, the voting operations are placed under the control of an electronic polling station which establishes the list of electors admitted to vote and ensures the regularity and sincerity of the ballot”, is it written in the amendment.
It would therefore be a major change for a presidential election, in particular in the use of machines to vote. Their use for an election has so far only been done for local polls.
However, even if this amendment is tabled by the government, the majority belongs to the right in the Upper Assembly.
