Some 50,000 clients of the Electric Power Authority (PREPA) remain without power service after the passage of tropical storm Laura, announced today, Sunday, the president of the Union of Electric and Irrigation Workers (Utier), Ángel Figueroa Jaramillo.
According to the union leader, the Ponce area is also affected with another 10,000 subscribers without service.
“At this time (11:15 am), 50,000 subscribers without service, approximately. Most of them in these 3 areas: Mayagüez area about 20,000 subscribers, San Juan and Guaynabo area about 15,000 subscribers,” he said in a tweet.
For its part, PREPA’s official account had announced that a little more than 28,000 clients did not have the service, contrasting the number offered by Figueroa Jaramillo.
At the moment, the public corporation has not said how long it will take to restore full service.
