Constant pressure: This is how the Animal Welfare Association reports about horse breeding abroad.
——
The President of the Association of Swiss Horse Meat Importers (VPI) resigns under pressure and after threats against his family. In his letter of resignation, Josef Pittino explicitly mentions the Zurich Animal Welfare Association as the reason.

The Animal Welfare Association (TSB) published the letter on Tuesday. Pittino writes that the organization’s pressure has culminated in a threatening letter to his wife. In an anonymous letter enclosed with the letter of resignation, the couple were asked to be picked up by the devil or the coronavirus.
–
It was time to protect the family. “Who knows what the TSB is up to against me,” continues Pittino’s letter. His resignation takes place immediately. Pittino’s lawyer asked the TSB to immediately refrain from publishing his client in pictures or text in connection with imports of horse meat.

The TSB has long been committed to importing horse meat from overseas. He drew attention to allegedly unbearable conditions during the transport and slaughter of horses in South America and elsewhere. In the announcement of Pittino’s resignation, the organization expressed its hope that “serious talks with the CPI” will now take place. (SDA)
